FAQ'sIF I SUBMIT MY FILM, AM I GUARANTEED TO SCREEN AT THE FESTIVAL? Unfortunately, no. Your film is submitted for consideration to screen at the Festival. We will do everything in our power to screen every film but it is dependent on the number of submissions we receive for the festival. WHEN YOU SAY “FILM FESTIVAL,” DOES THAT MEAN MY PROJECT CAN BE SHOT WITH VIDEO CAMERAS? No, projects must be produced, filmed and edited on iPads. Any project, shot on any format, is considered a “film.” DOES THE TIME LIMIT INCLUDE MY FILM’S TITLE/END CREDITS? No. Your beginning and end credits are not a part of the film’s content and are not a part of your time limit. HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TEAM PROJECT? Projects can be a part of a class project or done individually. If the film is a class project, typically the film is made by a team. The festival allows a project to have an official submission team of up to four (4) crew members. These members may include writer, director, camera, editing, or any other primary production position. The submission form must be completed by a designated team leader or Teacher sponsor. Make sure that all members of the production team (again, up to 4) are listed on the submission form. Only those listed on the submission form will be officially recognized. HOW DO I GET PERMISSION TO USE A PIECE OF MUSIC IN MY PROJECT? We have a page of information on using music (popular music, Creative Commons licensing, royalty-free music) in our Resources section. You will find the Music Licensing & Copyright page here. SHOULD I HAVE ACTORS IN MY FILM SIGN A RELEASE FORM? Yes, all students who are listed in as contributors to a film submission must complete and have parents sign the release form. The videos will be broadcast digitally on websites as well as on social media outlets. Click here to download that form. |
